![]() This lasted until 2004, when the Assault Weapons Ban was phased out, and today Calico is able to sell its unique firearms on the open market.Ĭalico is a rare green haired character. This limited firearms to 10 round magazines, which made the large magazines of the Calico (and by extension, the whole Calico family of firearms) illegal to sell in the Unites States. However, the institution of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban hampered Calico greatly, as there was a magazine ban built into the law. ![]() Originally, the Calico weapons system were marketed towards law enforcement, although they were eventually released onto the civilian market. Many instances of Calicos malfunctioning can be attributed to improper handling of the magazines. After loading ammunition into the magazine, the user is meant to press a button on the side to release the spring pressure, and then use a small lever to wind the magazine a set number of times to ensure proper spring pressure. The Calico has a reputation for being unreliable, although this is less to do with inherent issues with the guns themselves and more to do with the complexity of the magazines. Spent cases are ejected downwards through a port located in front of the trigger. These magazines are located on the top of the firearm, which allows the Calico to maintain a compact size. ![]() Originally designed as a submachine gun, the Calico system evolved into a whole family of firearms all utilizing Calico's unique double stack helical magazines. It is the automatic pistol version of the larger M900 carbine, both of which are chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum pistol cartridge. The Calico M950A is a roller-delayed blowback pistol manufactured by American arms manufacturing Calico Light Weapons Systems. ![]()
